Siding & Exterior Renovations on the South Shore
Cedar shingle, clapboard, and vinyl siding, rot repair, and complete exterior remodels — installed over a properly prepped, weather-tight wall.

What siding covers — and who it's for.
Siding is the protective, visible skin of your home — cedar, clapboard, or vinyl over house wrap and properly prepped sheathing. It's for homeowners whose siding is worn, damaged, or dated, and especially for older and coastal homes where water has started to get behind the wall.

Why homeowners pick us for siding.
Siding is where hidden damage shows up the most. When we pull the old material, we check the sheathing and framing and fix what's wrong before re-siding — the difference between a job that looks good for a season and one that protects the house for decades.
With 30+ years on the South Shore, we've sided everything from small cottages to full exterior renovations over $100,000, including plenty of older and coastal homes.
Rot handled right
Water damage gets found and rebuilt, not buried under new siding.
Material expertise
Cedar, clapboard, and vinyl — matched to your home and budget.
Clean detailing
Trim, corners, and flashing finished so the whole exterior ties together.
How a siding job goes.
We protect the property, work cleanly, and keep you in the loop. Most of the value happens at the prep stage, before any new siding is visible.
1. Tear-off & inspect
We remove the old siding and assess the sheathing for rot, moisture, and damage.
2. Repair & wrap
We rebuild any damaged areas and install house wrap and flashing for a weather-tight wall.
3. Side & trim
New siding and trim go on to spec, then we clean up and walk the finished exterior with you.
What new siding typically costs.
$10,000 – $40,000+ typical project range
Pricing depends mostly on the size of the home, the material, and what we find underneath. The range above is typical for the South Shore; your estimate is free and itemized.
Home size
More wall area means more material and labor.
Material
Cedar and clapboard cost more than vinyl, with a longer life and classic look.
Prep & repair
Rot repair and trim work add to the scope once the old siding is off.
A cedar shingle re-side, before & after.
A full cedar shingle re-side on a South Shore home — old shingles stripped to the sheathing, wrapped and flashed weather-tight, then finished in fresh red cedar with new trim.

What customers say about our work.
We had all of the exterior trim around our house replaced, and I couldn't be happier with the work Chris did. The quality and attention to detail really stood out, and it was clear from day one that he genuinely cared about doing the job right — making sure the end result was something he'd be proud of, as if it were his own house. Beyond the great craftsmanship, I truly enjoyed working with Chris along the way. He was easy to talk to, communicative throughout the project, and clearly invested in the outcome. We loved the finished product so much that we've already scheduled him for more work, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a contractor who truly cares about both the process and the result.
Kyle Jennings South Shore, MAI've used CB Builders many times, for many projects. They're excellent at roofing and siding. Every time, they walk me through the specific challenges of the project and offer solutions to all of them. When I bring them onto a project, I'm confident the job will be done right. Will definitely use them again.
Dominic Watkins South Shore, MAWhether you need a roofer, new siding on your house, new windows, or even a deck — no need to look any further. They are very affordable, reliable, and very informative. I give them 5 stars and would recommend them to everyone.

Siding questions, answered.
How much does new siding cost?
Most siding projects on the South Shore run from roughly $10,000 to $40,000+, depending on the size of the home, the material, and any rot or prep work needed underneath. Your estimate is free and specific to your house.
Should I choose cedar, clapboard, or vinyl?
Cedar shingle and clapboard give a classic New England look and age beautifully; vinyl is lower maintenance and budget-friendly. We'll walk you through the trade-offs for your home and exposure.
Do you repair rot and damage behind the old siding?
Yes — this is a big part of what we do. We pull the old siding, find any water damage or rot in the sheathing and framing, and rebuild it properly before new siding goes on.
How long does a siding job take?
Most homes take about one to two weeks depending on size, material, and the amount of prep and repair. We'll give you a clear schedule up front.
Do you work on older and coastal homes?
Often. We're comfortable with older, historic, and coastal homes that need careful detailing, weatherproofing, and trim integration rather than a quick re-side.
